Data center, 80 units of 2,100 kW
- Scope
- about 168 MW of backup capacity; design, supply, installation and commissioning
- Result
- largest data center project of the partner plant
Solution
Gensets with data center rating and no engine hour limit, containerized power modules and fuel systems for 48-72 hours. Together with OS Power storage: the battery carries the load while the genset starts and smooths GPU load steps.

data center rating of units with MTU 20V4000 and Mitsubishi S16R2

manufacturer data4 per day
units of 1,000 kVA and above at the new plant: 2.5 MW containerized in 3 months
manufacturer dataFor Tier III and IV facilities the genset must carry the load for as long as the grid is down, with no engine hour limit. A standby rating does not guarantee this.
After grid loss the genset must start and accept the load while UPS and batteries carry the data hall.
Tanks, transfer pumps, fuel level and quality control, redundant supply lines.
Gensets are installed on roofs, in double-stacked containers, near residential areas; building a generator hall takes a long time.
Solution
Units with data center rating, synchronization and parallel operation, containerized power modules and storage that covers the start-up time.
Storage carries the load during genset start-up and synchronization.
| Rating | Mode | Application |
|---|---|---|
| Standby (ESP) | grid failure only, average load up to 80 %, up to 500 h per year, no overload | backup for offices and plants |
| Prime (PRP) | unlimited hours, average load up to 70 %, 10 % overload for no more than 1 h in 12 | primary source at off-grid sites |
| Continuous (COP) | constant load, unlimited hours | base load generation |
| Data center (DCP) | unlimited hours at variable data center load | backup for Tier III and IV data centers |
The data center rating is confirmed by the model datasheet. Load acceptance time and load steps are provided on request for a specific model.
