Russia
The main source of value is capacity charges and grid connection lead times.
- Capacity charges
- for consumers in price categories 3-6 with maximum capacity from 670 kW; discharging during scheduled peak hours reduces billed capacity.
- Network maintenance
- in price categories 4 and 6 a separate network maintenance rate is charged, which increases the effect of storage.
- Grid connection
- up to 4 months for sites up to 670 kW and up to a year for sites up to 1 MW when spare capacity exists; 2-4 years when grid upgrades are needed.
- Frequency control
- since 2026 grid-scale storage participates in general primary frequency control under GOST R 71521-2024 and Government Decree No. 810; there is no separate payment yet.

Kazakhstan
Cold climate and telecom and data center infrastructure.
- Climate
- winters down to -40 °C in the north and center of the country: sodium chemistry and heating are standard requirements.
- Telecom and data centers
- telecom operators, data centers and computing clusters are priority customers.
- Tariffs
- economics are calculated under the site's contract with the power supply company.
- Presence
- regional center in Astana (opening).

Uzbekistan
Capacity shortage and long outages.
- Outages
- in summer 2026 - thousands of grid failures, outages of 8-10 hours and scheduled outages in the heat.
- Time-of-use tariffs
- from 22.09.2026 time-of-use tariffs apply to consumers from 750 kVA: load shifting becomes a source of revenue.
- National program
- construction of grid-scale storage and a target of 4.5 GW by 2030.
- Behind-the-meter storage
- customer-side storage does not require a separate license; for pilots, international certificates may be recognized.
