Economics and calculation

Energy storage economics for your site

Peak shaving, load shifting and lower billed capacity. We show what the effect is made of, an example calculation and a calculator. Equipment prices are not published; the calculation runs in the browser.

Revenue streams

How energy storage earns

Peak shaving

The storage covers peak load hours, and billed capacity goes down.

Load shifting

Charging during cheap night hours, discharging during expensive daytime tariff zones.

Backup for critical loads

Supplying critical lines during grid outages without starting a genset for short dips.

On-site generation

Joint operation with solar panels and gensets: higher self-consumption, less fuel.

Deferred or avoided grid connection

In constrained nodes, storage removes the need to wait for grid upgrades and pay for new capacity.

Grid-scale storage

Containers up to 5 MWh for grid companies and large sites: IEC 104 and IEC 61850 protocols.

Example

Example calculation: 2.5 MW / 5 MWh in Russia

Industrial consumer, discharge during scheduled peak hours, load shifting across time-of-day zones.

Example calculation as of 10.2026, not a commercial offer. In price categories 4 and 6 the effect is higher due to the network maintenance rate. Payback for your site depends on the load profile, tariff, region and delivery cost.

Estimate for your site

This is an indicative estimate, not a commercial offer. Default tariffs are examples excluding VAT as of 10.2026; enter your own from your power supply contract. We will calculate the exact economics from your hourly load profile.

Share of demand charge reduction

The charge falls only if the discharge coincides with the system operator's planned peak hours; use 50% for an estimate.

Budget and payback

Simple payback ignores the time value of money; the discounted budget accounts for the discount rate, maintenance costs and battery ageing.

What is not included in the calculation

    • Payment for primary frequency control: as of 10.2026 there is none in Russia.
    • Revenue from exporting energy to the grid without a contract.
    • Equipment prices: the turnkey cost is calculated on request for a specific site.
    • The value of backup is calculated separately, based on the cost of downtime of your production.

Peak and average load, hourly load profile for a year (if available), tariff and price category, site climate and the task: lower electricity costs, backup, grid connection or on-site generation. We will reply with a configuration, an indicative payback and a lead time.
